Equality is the focus.
Rainbow is the name I use for this advocacy space, welcoming 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and allies. My focus is equal dignity, safety and meaningful participation.
Equal dignity
Gender, sexuality, relationships—or the absence of a relationship—do not determine a person’s worth.
Meaningful participation
People should be able to take part in work, community and public life without being reduced to a label.
Respect in action
Reject demeaning stereotypes, challenge exclusion, and make room for people to speak for themselves.
Bigotry needs to stop.
I want a community where people can participate without being demeaned or excluded. That takes everyday respect and the willingness to challenge prejudice, including in our own spaces.
Equal dignity applies across genders, sexualities, relationships and relationship status. This is the principle I want my advocacy to serve.
Community in practice
Prospera’s June 2022 release identified me as Financial Solutions Manager and Co-Chair of Prospera Pride, its employee resource group.
At Surrey Pride’s May 2023 event, I was selected by the audience and chose Surrey Pride Seniors Programming as my charity.
